Which countries offer the most opportunities for product designers?
Based on the number of jobs and salaries, the best countries for designers are US, Canada, UK, Israel, Australia and Germany. Here is why and how other countries rank.
One way to answer that question is to check where companies are most likely to hire designers. Companies often prefer to open offices in countries with a large talent pool.
But which countries have the largest design talent pool? I analyzed a dataset of 23,589 designers working at 3,994 companies and grouped them by county.
I looked at two data points:
Number of employed designers (talent density)—where companies might want to hire.
Designers salaries (in %, relative to the US)—where designers may want to work.
As a result, in the green area you can see which countries have a lot of design jobs and offer high salaries (these countries could be a good place to build a design career):

Data caveats:
Obviously, like any data and analysis, it isn't perfect.
When choosing where to live and work, consider the cost of living, taxes, competition, etc.
The data is skewed towards US businesses. For example, Ukraine likely has a higher talent density. However, it appears low on the graph because US-based companies are less likely to have employees there than in some other countries.
In the next few weeks, I’m planning to make an analysis considering additional factors like cost of living, taxes, and job openings.
Thanks Pave for the data (BTW they are hiring a product design manager in SF).
